ABOUT COACH YOUNG

After being introduced to golf by friends after almost two decades of being a head basketball coach, I decided to pick up the game. I immediately fell in love with the game. I believe for me it was the individual challenge. No teammates to blame nor depend upon. It was just me! So I began playing, if I can truly call it that. However, I skipped what I believe now is the most important part, which is learning how to play the game and proper golf course decorum. Not just to learn how to swing a golf club, but to learn the multitude of complicated rules. Plus, I am sure that the number of golf balls that I lost would have more than paid for a few lessons. So I took lessons, and it was the worst training experience that I had ever experienced at the time. It  was at that moment that I decided that I would learn as much as I could about the game at the academic level. So after retiring from the Air Force, I decided to attend the Golf Academy of America, Orlando Campus. After receiving my degree in Golf Operations and Management with my focus in Instruction, I received my first job as the Teaching Pro and Asst. Pro at Andrews AFB, MD. After a season there in 2014, I set out on my own. I wanted to create for my clients, the type of science and analytics backed type of instruction that I received throughout my degree program.

My teaching concepts are a combination of flexibility, biomechanics, and core training along with the video feedback that can help aid in a successful transition from "Golf Novelist" to "Golf Enthusiast." I leverage my ten years of teaching  experience along with that of my mentor Brad Turner (BT). BT was once a burgeoning youngster on the PGA Tour. After he stepped away from the heavy travel schedule of a professional golfer to raise his family, he found himself able to stay deeply rooted to the game by becoming the Dean of the Orlando campus of The Golf Academy of America. It was our long in depth conversations about the game of golf that would help me to see that I had made the right decision to leave basketball, and to commit to this new passion of teaching golf and yet creating more "Champions'". He did then and he still to this day serves as my mentor and instructor and I am very blessed to have such an awesome teacher, player and friend just a phone call or short flight away. It was through him that I learned the true value of analytics within the game of golf.

I now use the latest in golf  technology to provide the most in-depth analysis tools for my students. With video capture I can more than just tell my students what is happening at the moment of impact, but they can follow along with me, frame by frame as they can see the advantage of a 240 frame per second (fps) camera with V1 software. And, they can also see the ball placement on the club at impact with the use of my Foresight FSX software, which also provides the ability to use the simulator tools. I have also created a fitness studio focused on the specific needs of golfers. These are the tools, knowledge and understanding that I bring to students and much more!

You will notice that I list my prices as negotiable. That is because I do not wish to turn anyone away from this game that is truly devoted to putting in the time that is required to be your best version of you. This is especially true for our youth in our much underserved communities and one income homes in this area. I wish to share my love for golf with everyone who wants to put in the time and work!
